Why Trust Mac Repair with your Apple?

Years of Experience

Mac Repair’s parent company, Disc Depot, was founded in 2001. We’ve amassed years of experience in computer repairs, and we’ve never been afraid to take on the more difficult jobs that other shops just won’t- and can’t- do anything about.

Due to the complex and elegant design of their products, Apple devices often take a bit more knowledge to fix than (say) a regular desktop PC. Such experience doesn’t come overnight, but can be built upon if one has knowledge of previous generations and related products… as we do. That’s why we’re generally ahead of the curve with Apple products.

For example, we were one of the first places in Dundee to offer iPad repairs. (In fact, our head technician was the first in the overnight queue at Aberdeen’s Apple store when the original iPad launched. That’s dedication!) We’ve consistently kept ahead of the pack, and have established relationships with component suppliers that allow us to obtain the necessary parts first.

Faster Apple Repairs than the Competition

We Keep More Parts in Stock

Some stores in Dundee and St Andrews order in repair components as needed. This means that you might be waiting anything from an extra day to a week– if not more- for the parts to come in before they can even start fixing your tablet, computer or phone.

Unlike them, we generally keep the major repair components in stock– including LCD screens, digitisers, sockets, etc.- for the biggest-selling Apple models. That means there’s a better chance we can start on your repair without having to wait for parts to arrive.

Rapid and Express Repair Service Upgrades

Need it even faster? Great news- we offer an optional 24-Hour Rapid Repair Service and a 2-Hour Express Repair Service* on all common Apple iPad repairs at both our Dundee and St Andrews shops. (Please remember to ask for these services when you have your iPad tablet booked in).

* 24-Hour Rapid and 2-Hour Express Repair services subject to availability. Additional charges of £10 (for 24-hour service) and £20 (for 2-hour service) apply. (Prices correct at time of writing).

Local and Convenient

Dundee

Because Mac Repair is located within Disc Depot stores at the centre of Dundee and St Andrews, we’re a nearby solution for those living in Angus and much of Fife.

Our Dundee store can be found in Union Street, in the city centre. That’s just off the Nethergate and literally a minute’s walk from either the High Street or the Overgate Centre. It’s also just a few minutes away from either the University of Dundee or the University of Abertay campuses. We’re just up the road from Dundee Railway Station and the Malmaison hotel, as well as being within walking distance of the Apex and many other city centre hotels.

Perfectly-placed for anyone living in Angus, Tayside or North Fife, including residents of Dundee, Lochee, Douglas, Invergowrie, Whitfield, Broughty Ferry, Monifieth, Newport-on-Tay, Tayport or Wormit looking for Mac, iPad, iPhone or iPod repairs.

St Andrews

Our St Andrews branch is located in City Road, right next to the historic West Port, and within convenient walking distance of the St Andrews University campus. Whether you’re a resident, a student or a visitor, we’re convenient for you!
Attending for the golf or playing a round on the Old Course? We’re within convenient distance for all tourists to St Andrews.

Fair Prices and Genuine Repairs

Why “Official” Repairs are So Expensive

You might be surprised to find out that- if they’re offered at all- many officially-endorsed “repairs” are in effect little more than swap-outs. In the case of (say) your iMac or MacBook, this might mean that your computer’s existing hard drive gets transferred into another refurbished computer of the same model. You might be happy with this situation if it’s still under warranty and you aren’t the one paying!

Unfortunately, if your Apple is out of warranty, the cost of this type of “repair” will be comparable to simply buying a refurbished Mac– which is essentially what is happening. That’s often not far off the cost of a brand-new computer, and far more expensive than necessary if your current Mac is actually fixable- which, more often than not, it will be!

Compare Our Prices

Even in cases where the official repair isn’t just a swap-out, we believe our prices are far more affordable than those offered from Apple and through many officially-endorsed channels. Feel free to ask us for a quote and compare it to the price Apple charge for something similar- in the vast majority of cases, we believe we’ll be considerably cheaper.
