Independent Repair Stores- The Good and The Bad
By Disc Depot In Repair ProcessWe like to believe that we maintain a generally high standard of repair, so it’s easy for us to forget why some people look down on the independent repair sector.
Then we get a job like this in and realise exactly why.
To cut a long story short, we got our hands on this iPhone 6 after another store had failed to repair it, despite having tried out four different screens. During our successful repair of the phone, we found out why, along with some other things that painted a less-than-competent picture of our rival.
- See that red sticker around the edge in the first picture? It’s meant to have been removed before fitting- clear this isn’t the case.
- When they took out the connector for the screen, they also knocked off another component (see right). We micro-soldered a replacement on; fairly straightforward for us, but many less experienced stores without our advenced equipment wouldn’t have managed. We suspect that if the screen had still worked, they’d have handed it back with the component missing.
- A side issue; they’d filled a hole on the housing with filler where a screw was missing!
We hope this shows why you shouldn’t rush to the first or cheapest place you find to get your phone fixed. We don’t skimp on the quality of parts, or our workmanship, and we offer a full ninety day warranty. If it’s a £60 phone or a £1200 computer, we’ll give your repair the attention it truly deserves.
