Battery Replacement for Your iPhone and iPad

We Can Replace Your Non-Replaceable Battery!

If you’re an iPhone or an iPad owner, you probably know that their lithium-ion batteries aren’t designed to be replaced.

Nice in that (some people claim) it helps keep the design slimmer, but bad news if- or rather when- your iPhone or iPad’s capacity or chargeability starts getting obviously poorer with time, or failing altogether.

Does this mean that you have to replace your expensive phone or tablet? The good news is, no- Mac Repair in Dundee and St Andrews can supply and fit a new iPad or iPad battery at a very reasonable price.

Find us within Disc Depot stores in Dundee (16 Union Street) and St Andrews (1 City Road). Perfect for Apple owners in Angus, Dundee and Fife!

The Sensible Choice for Apple Battery Replacement

Why choose us?

Put bluntly, we’ve been around much longer than the majority of our rivals. Disc Depot- our parent company- was formed in 2001, and we’ve been working on the iPhone almost since day one (i.e. 2007!). Our head technician was one of the first people in Scotland to get his hands on an iPad when they came out in 2010, and was first in line in the overnight queue at the Apple store! (Another member of staff had the iPhone XS Max the day that came out.)

Are we more reliable than a company that started six months back to jump on the burgeoning smartphone/tablet repair market with a window full of cheap iPhone cases? We think so.

One issue is that Apple’s devices generally aren’t designed to be easy to repair, and their many delicate connectors and components can easily be damaged simply by being opened up if the person doesn’t know what they’re doing.

It’s often a false economy to save a few pounds (at most) by using some random no-name shop or- worse- some guy with an advert on Gumtree who fixes smartphones in his spare time, if the end result is that your iPhone gets messed up!

Our prices are generally competitive, and we’re typically fast and efficient, with many of our iPhone and iPad repairs carried out the same day. Why bother with anyone else?

iPhone or iPad Not Holding Its Charge Like It Used To?

If you’re experiencing problems with your iPad or iPhone’s battery running out a lot quicker than it did when you first bought it, this is possibly a sign that the battery is wearing out and needs replaced.

Of course, there are other causes of charging problems- primarily due to the Lightning or Apple dock connector being damaged. Fortunately, we can repair that sort of thing as well!

Whether it’s a problem with the battery, with the connector, or you’re just not sure, you can bring your iPhone and iPad to our stores in Dundee and St Andrews.

Swollen Case and Battery

If you see your Apple’s case begin to bulge or swell for no apparent reason… watch out! The cause is almost certainly a damaged Li-ion (lithium-ion) battery inside the case, and this is bad news.

Li-ion is the battery technology Apple uses in both the iPhone smartphone line and the iPad tablet range, and while Li-ion cells offer an impressive storage capacity, they can suffer due to:-

  • Overcharging – Such batteries generally don’t like being overcharged.
  • Heat – Exposure to heat can also damage them.
  • Faulty manufacture – This does occasionally happen with the batteries used in Apple devices. (You may wish to check with Apple whether this is covered by the warranty).

Batteries damaged in this way are a problem because they:-

  • Have reduced charge capacity
  • Can damage the rest of your iPhone or iPad – If, or when, the swelling becomes so bad that it starts crushing other components inside
  • Are at risk of exploding and/or catching fire – The swelling is due to a build up of gases which are generally flammable

For the last two reasons especially, you should not continue using a phone or tablet with a swollen battery until that battery has been replaced.

For reasons of safety, never throw your damaged batteries out with your usual household rubbish as they can be a danger to waste disposal workers. (If you bring your iPhone or iPad to us to have the battery replaced, we’ll safely get rid of the old one for you).
